1.   Black and Gold have been the schools colors since 1912.

2.   Ms. Florence Burrow Pope is credited with nominating the school colors. 

3.   The student body argued greatly over the selection of school colors.

4.   Soon after the school colors were adopted in 1912, Black and Gold hat bands were all the rage on campus.

Athletics began modestly in 1912 when 150 students organized the Athletic Association and elected Science Professor R.J. Slay as Athletics Director for the college. Soon after that, Ms. Stella McLaurin of Monrtose suggested the proposed school colors of Black & Gold which remain to this day!
